Editing Services

Editing Services for Indie Authors

Strong writing keeps readers turning pages. My role as an editor is to help your story communicate clearly, emotionally, and intentionally—without changing your voice. I focus on clarity, flow, tone, continuity, and the reader’s lived experience of your pages, using a calm, structured workflow designed for indie authors.

I’ve written more than eight novels, published two (with two more releasing this year), and understand firsthand what it takes to revise, polish, and prepare a manuscript for publication. My approach is supportive, balanced, and tailored to the needs of character-driven fiction.

What I Offer

Line Editing – 5¢ per word

A deep, sentence-level pass focusing on:

  • clarity, flow, and rhythm
  • tightening language without flattening voice
  • strengthening emotional beats
  • improving pacing at the paragraph and scene level
  • smoothing transitions and reducing clutter

Best for manuscripts that are structurally sound and ready for expressive refinement.

Copyediting – 3.2¢ per word

A detail-oriented polish addressing:

  • grammar, punctuation, and usage
  • consistency and continuity
  • light fact-checking
  • internal logic within scenes
  • alignment with your style sheet

Best for manuscripts approaching formatting, beta distribution, or publication.

Short-Form Editing – flat-rate based on scope

Ideal for materials where clarity and precision matter most:

  • blurbs (retail + back-cover)
  • long/short synopses
  • author bios
  • query letters
  • newsletter content
  • website or platform copy

Fast turnaround available.

Genres I Work With

I specialize in:

  • Fantasy (light and heavy)
  • Romance and romance-adjacent fiction
  • Science fiction and SF/F blends
  • Speculative fiction
  • General fiction
  • Young Adult
  • Narrative nonfiction

If your work is voice-driven, character-focused, or emotionally rich, we’ll be a strong fit.

A Neurodivergent-Friendly Editorial Workflow

My process is designed to reduce overwhelm and uncertainty:

  1. Sample & Note
Send 2–5 sample pages + a brief note about your goals (bullet points are fine).
  2. Quote & Recommendation
I review your sample and recommend the best service level.
  3. Schedule & Confirm
Clear pricing, clear dates, nothing ambiguous.
  4. Edit & Delivery
    You receive:
    • a tracked-changes file
    • a clean file
    • optional notes where helpful
  5. Questions at Your Pace
Everything is asynchronous; no meetings required unless you request them.

The goal is clarity, predictability, and a calm workflow that supports your creativity.

File Formats I Accept

You can submit your manuscript in:

  • .docx
  • .ods
  • .rtf

I return edits in the same format.
Short explanation:

.docx — Most compatible; full tracked-changes support
.ods — Full editing support in modern LibreOffice
.rtf — Varies by program; many support tracked changes, some simplify formatting

If you’re unsure which to use, I’m happy to recommend one.

Pricing Overview

  • Line Editing: 3¢ per word
  • Copyediting: 2.5¢ per word
  • Short-Form Editing: Flat rate, based on scope and length

Quotes are based on the sample you submit—no surprises later.
