Start Your Editing Project

Start Your Editing Project

If you’re ready to begin—or just exploring your options—this page outlines the simplest way to start. My intake process is straightforward, low-pressure, and asynchronous. You can reach out at your own pace.

You may contact me directly by email or use the intake form. Either option is completely fine.

How to Begin

Option 1: Use the Intake Form

The intake form is a structured, ND-friendly way to share your project details.

It will ask for:

  • your name and email
  • your preferred communication style
  • manuscript genre
  • word count
  • file format (.docx, .ods, .rtf)
  • project summary (bullet points are fine)
  • specific concerns, if any
  • your timeline
  • how you plan to submit the file
Option 2: Email Me Directly

If forms aren’t your thing, email is equally welcome.

inquiry@andrewlbond.com

You can write as much or as little as you like. A simple message such as the following is perfectly acceptable:

Hi Andrew, I’d like help with a line edit / copyedit. My manuscript is about wordcount and the genre is genre. Here are a few goals for the edit: optionalbulletpoints. I’d love a quote and timeline.

If email feels easier than form fields, choose this route.

What Happens Next

Whether you submit the form or email:

  1. You send 2–5 sample pages
(Any section of the manuscript is fine.)
  2. I review the sample
to determine the level of editing that will serve your work best.
  3. You receive a clear quote and timeline
No pressure, no upsells, no ambiguity.
  4. If you approve, we will schedule the edit
You’ll get a firm delivery date.
  5. I then complete your edit and return:
    • a tracked-changes file
    • a clean file
    • a brief notes summary (if helpful)

You’re welcome to ask questions at your own pace, or simply take the files and continue revising on your own.

File Formats I Accept

You may submit your manuscript as:

  • .docx
  • .ods
  • .rtf

I return edits in the same format you send.

If you aren’t sure which format works best with your writing software, I can help you choose one.

Turnaround Times

Typical scheduling windows:

  • Short-form editing: 2–5 days
  • Novella-length editing: 2–3 weeks
  • Novel-length editing: 3–5 weeks

You’ll always receive an exact delivery date before we begin.
